Gators for Environmental Community Outreach (GECO)

2017 Involvement Award Winner, Outstanding New Student Organization

Featured Member: Katie Thorp

Through our pillars of Action, Education, and Adventure, we seek to inspire others, regardless of major, to take an interest in environmentalism.

Katie Thorp is president of Gators for Environmental Community Outreach (GECO). GECO is a unique organization that's not only an educational club, but also social and service-oriented. Katie first became interested in environmental studies in middle school when she attended an environmental science summer camp at Florida Gulf Coast University. Through GECO, their Environmental Education Committee works to educate grade school students on sustainability and environmentalism.
